olympiada

This week we held a mini-Olympics for our pre-kinder to second grade students. For the Opening Ceremonies, each class represented a different theme, like "Creation" or "The Olympic Games," and dressed up accordingly. I wish I could've taken pictures of every student's costume because they were done so well and so elaborately. To give you an idea of what they looked like, see the snippets below. (Or just skip to minutes 1:05 and 2:25 for my favorite costumes: Adam & Eve, and a pair of mushrooms)

These adorable students continue to bring me so much joy. I wonder if this is how God feels when He sees His own children growing up - beaming in fatherly affection as He watches us parading around in the cute outfits and activities we put on as spiritual babies, and loving us ever more when we mature and learn how to clothe ourselves properly in garments of righteousness.
"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is."
1 John 3:1-2
Prayer: spiritual maturity.
